| ISOC will support the Marovo Lagoon Learning Network in Solomon Islands |
| The Pacific Islands Chapter of the Internet Society (PICISOC) is proud to announce that the Marovo Lagoon Learning Network project will be financially supported by the Internet Society (ISOC) as part of its "Internet Project Funding Initiative".
The Internet Society (ISOC) holds two grant rounds each year and dedicated US$200,000 to support the projects of ISOC chapters and members in 2007.

| Cook Islands win PacINET 2008 |
| The region's biggest annual Information Communication Technology (ICT) meeting, PacINET, is to be held in the Cook Islands next year.
This was decided in Honiara, Solomon Islands, by the annual meeting of the Pacific Islands Chapter of the Internet Society (PICISOC) as a successful PacINET 2007 came to an end.
Cook Islands and Papua New Guinea both presented some excellent bids to host PacINET 2008. Through a tight vote, PICISOC members selected Cook Islands.

| The Internet can be the medium through which knowledge can be acquired and harnessed.
This was one of the messages Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Hon Manasseh Sogavare, delivered to participants of PacINET 2007 this morning while officially opening the meeting.

| The Pacific Island Chapter of the Internet Society (PICISOC) is holding its annual meeting, PacINET, at the very place of its birth in 1999.
In his address to the PacINET 2007 Opening Plenary this morning, PICISOC Chair, Rajnesh Singh, remarked that PICISOC was founded at the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) in Honiara, Solomon Islands, some eight years ago.
